Memorial Scholarship Honoring Margaret Singleton
Donation protected
The District of Columbia Chamber of Commerce is launching a fundraising campaign aimed at establishing a memorial scholarship to honor the legacy and memory of the late Margaret Singleton. Margaret demonstrated an unwavering commitment to transforming the Chamber into the premier business organization in the District and advocated tirelessly on behalf of local businesses and economic development. On an annual basis, the Fund will recognize a business or urban studies student at Howard University (Margaret’s alma mater) and at the University of the District of Columbia (UDC), the District’s public university and only urban land grant Historically Black College/University. Details on the application requirements and process will be announced at a later date. The Chamber expects to achieve its fundraising goal by late fall in anticipation of a scholarship award being made at the Chamber’s gala scheduled for November 2022.
We ask you/your organization to consider a gift to this worthwhile cause. For additional information, individuals, corporations (e.g., large, small, and minority-owned businesses) government agencies, institutions, foundations, nonprofits, churches, and other organizations interested in contributing to Margaret’s legacy and the campaign are encouraged to contact the Chamber via telephone: (202)-347-7201 or email:singletonscholarship@dcchamberorg. The DC Chamber of Commerce Foundation is a tax-exempt 501(c)3 charitable organization. Donors will receive special recognition and acknowledgements, unless anonymity is requested. Joe Torraca, a member of the DC Chamber Board of Directors and Vice President at Astound, will chair the Scholarship Committee.
