Help Rosalyn & Her Grandkids

Donation protected
UPDATED ON SEPTEMBER 10, 2015:

Hello, everyone! Great news: As of this morning, the money raised here has been put into a trust for Rosalyn and the family. The trust was built pro bono by a wonderful Nashville-based legal team, and will be administered by a trusted friend in our East Hill neighborhood. This means that your donations are now safe in an account that 1) can only be accessed by the trustee, who has been tasked with making the right choices for the family as well as their financial stability and 2) will not have any impact on Rosalyn or the kids' government benefits or Section 8 eligibility.

The Rosalyn Trust will exist in perpetuity in hopes of giving this family a safety net for years to come, and thus we have chosen to keep this GoFundMe active and raise the goal from $7000 to $50,000 with an eye on things like a college education fund for Kelexus and Santana. Hey -- dream big, right?

Finally, the family has found a temporary place to live, effective September 19th. It is outside of their budget, but your donations will allow them to bridge the gap between their income and market rent until a more permanent solution comes through. THANK YOU.

And now, for the stars of the show....

Rosalyn is a disabled grandmother with custody of her two grandchildren, ages 14 and 5. A ten-year resident of East Nashville on Spain Avenue, she is being forced to move due to her landlord's decision to sell to developers. She and her kids want more than anything to stay in this community -- the 14 year old is in the marching band at Maplewood -- but due to the high cost of rent these days, they are quite simply unable to find anything that fits in their $450-500/mo budget.

We are hoping to spread the word about Rosalyn and her beautiful kiddos, and maybe raise a little money to help with the costs of this stressful time.

Any questions or suggestions to help Rosalyn and her family can be sent via this campaign and we will make sure they are answered and passed along. Thank you in advance for your generosity!!
