On Wednesday, July 30th, the Smith Family’s world was turned upside down. On vacation in Cape Cod, MA with his family, Cliff suffered a massive seizure and was rushed to Cape Cod Hospital. After a routine CT-scan, the unimaginable happened when they found a massive growth on his brain. He was immediately rushed to Mass General Hospital (MGH) in Boston where an MRI scan was conducted that revealed the worst; a massive 5cm tumor on his right frontal lobe. A craniotomy surgery was performed the following day and the Neurosurgeons were able to successfully remove a majority of the large cancerous tumor, but not 100%. After a few days in the ICU and recovery, Cliff is returning back home to Charleston, South Carolina where radiation, chemotherapy and target therapy will begin as he travels between Duke University Hospital in Raleigh, NC and Mass General Hospital in Boston, MA to provide him with the best possible care and outcome.
Cliff is surrounded by his wife, Amber Smith, their three kids, Camden (10), Kennedy (8) and Hudson (3), as well as his parents, sister & fiancé, close family and friends who continue to support, love and care for him during this difficult journey. He has proven the Neurosurgeons and Oncologists how strong and resilient a person he is and we know he will continue to grow stronger and fight hard against this terrible disease.
We would like to help raise funds for Cliff’s treatment costs, travel expenses, and other related financial needs as he battles brain cancer and has a long road of recovery in front of him. This will help alleviate the worry for their family to cover medical bills, specialized treatments, and additional expenses during this challenging time.
