Support for Okurut George and Family

MEET OKURUT GEORGE
I'm raising money for my friend Okurut and his family. Okurut is a beautiful soul who lives with his mom and younger brothers in an impoverished city in Uganda called Kitgu,  in what is essentially a 10x10 concrete slab.

Okurut's mom is living with HIV/AIDS, and still works every day washing people's clothes for the survival of her family.

Okurut is the only one of his four siblings to get any type of education and he is working to help support his family, including the ability for his three younger siblings to go to school.

A BRIGHT LIGHT OF LOVE IN THE SLUMS OF AFRICA

Okurut is not the only person from an impoverished area working to support his family, but it is HOW he works to help them that makes his such a worthy cause.

The way Okurut makes money is by teaching yoga, dance, and meditation across Uganda and his goal is to bring these healing practices all across Africa.

In an environment that is devastated with disease, war,  and poverty, Okurut's mission is to bring love, peace, unity and light to all those around him, and to use the income he earns from his service to support his terminally ill mother and younger brothers.

Okurut offers his services on a donation basis because he knows how helpful it is for the communities around him to receive his offering and with the climate of the world right now, his difficult task has unfortunately become much more challenging.

WHY IT'S SO IMPORTANT RIGHT NOW

With the current pandemic spreading across the globe, the government in Uganda, like many other places, has banned all travel and gathering, which means that Okurut's ability to make any money for the survival of his family is extremely limited.

We don't know how long these restrictions will last, so Okurut's already challenging circumstances are moving towards being very dire.

HOW YOUR DONATIONS WILL HELP

~Food
~Rent
~Water
~Medicine
~School
- Emergency Supplies

Okurut's family expenses are around $2,000 per month, which includes school for his three siblings, so the goal is to raise $6,000 to support his family for three months.

This goal is exponentiated with the current crisis, and obviously if we raised more then it would all go towards a very worthy cause.

BIG FAT AUDACIOUS GOAL

Okurut's ultimate goal is to buy a piece of land where they can build a house, Okurut can teach and work, and his terminally-ill mother will no longer need to wash other people's clothes.

The cost for this dream to come true is around $30,000

LOVE WINS

In a time when fear is so prevalent and many of us are living with a scarcity mentality, it is the perfect moment for us to recognize just how fortunate we all are, how much comfort we have, and how much good we can do by being of service to others.

"I am here to spread love, peace, and unity. We are different colors but we are all one people - we are One - and we need to make this one to come reality." ~ Okurut George
