Lisa Marie, my sister, has always been a source of strength and kindness for so many people. She spent over a decade as the bookkeeper at NHC Lake Saint Charles Retirement Community, where she absolutely loved her job and the people she worked with. Lisa was also passionate about working at haunted houses, especially Necropolis Haunted House in Columbia, MO, where she found joy in bringing smiles and scares to others. For the past 15 years, Lisa has been with The Saint Louis Mullen Foundation, a nonprofit charity that raises money for small charities, and she currently serves as its President. In addition, Lisa has been deeply involved in the Saint Louis Theatre scene for more than twenty years, sharing her love for plays and supporting countless friends and community members. Lisa has always been the first to offer help, encouragement, and a listening ear, never asking for much in return. Her passion for theatre began when she was a little girl, and she carried that love into adulthood, touching the lives of everyone around her.
Recently, Lisa received the devastating diagnosis of Glioblastoma, a terminal form of brain cancer. After undergoing surgery to remove most of the tumor, we were hopeful for her recovery. Unfortunately, the cancer returned even more aggressively, and Lisa is now in hospice care. This has been an incredibly difficult time for Lisa and her husband, Karl Eric Beke, as they face not only the emotional toll of her illness but also the overwhelming financial strain. With Lisa unable to work, the mounting medical bills and everyday expenses have become a heavy burden.
Now, we are reaching out to the community that Lisa has given so much to over the years. We are asking for your help—whether through a donation or by sharing this fundraiser with others. Your support will help ease the financial stress on Lisa and Karl, allowing them to focus on spending precious time together. Any contribution, no matter the size, would mean the world to our family. Thank you for considering helping Lisa in her time of need.
