I am Alec Virgil, and I’m a teacher, community organizer, and proud native of Wilson, North Carolina. I’ve dedicated my life to education and service, helping students and families reach their full potential both inside and outside the classroom. As the 2025 Durham Public Schools Teacher of the Year, I’ve seen firsthand how small acts of kindness can create lifelong change.

I’m raising funds for Operation 252, a community initiative I founded five years ago to support families in need across Wilson and surrounding areas. Every December, Operation 252 provides brand-new shoes, clothing, breakfast, and haircuts to local children; completely free of charge. This year marks our 5th Annual Community Day, taking place on December 20, 2025, and our goal is to reach even more families than ever before.
