In Memory Of Showdy Fibison

On July 6th, Showdy gained her angel wings after a year and a half long battle with ovarian cancer. Her family and friends are absolutely heartbroken over her passing.

Showdy lived in Minnesota her entire life: she was born on May 23, 1961 in St Paul, grew up in Little Canada, and lived in Maplewood for most of her adult life. She married Jerry on May 26, 1979 in North St Paul and together had two daughters: Jolene and Janelle. Later in life, she was gifted with three grandchildren: Karter, Kaelynd, and Harper.

For anyone who knows Showdy well, you know that she was a devoted wife, loving mother, and doting grandmother. She loved her family so much and truly was the glue that kept them so bonded. She was a social butterfly - always hosting family holidays (some of the family favorites include baking Christmas cookies each December with all of the aunts and cousins and having a big celebration every Fourth of July), she was extremely creative - always making, crafting, or painting something (her last project was making quilts for loved ones), she was incredibly hard-working and took her most important job of mom and grandma the most seriously. She helped raise all three of her grandkids and was the best ma'ama/gramma they could ask for. She will be missed beyond measure.

Although we are so saddened by her passing, we take comfort in knowing that she is no longer in pain as her last few months were incredibly difficult. She was welcomed into her next and final chapter by parents Gerald and Arlene, brothers Terry and Gordy, and nephews Gordy Jo and Noah. Together, they will watch over us.

This GoFundMe was started to help raise money for Jerry so that he can begin to pick up the pieces and move forward. As you can imagine, Showdy's sudden and unexpected battle with cancer has created a mountain of debt so this money will go directly to him to help catch up on mortgage and utility payments, provide finals services for her, and allow him to grieve at home comfortably before returning to work.

At Showdy's request, there will be no funeral service, however, the family plans to hold a Celebration of Life. More details on that to come.
