Help Send Keilah to Theatre School

Hi my name is Sherine and I’m a single mum of 4 amazing kids. One of them is Keilah who I’m trying to raise money for.

Keilah has always been a natural performer. She successfully auditioned to play young Nala in The Lion King with no previous Theatre training or experience. When that contract came to an end she auditioned again and this time got the role of Young Anna-Mae in TINA which she is currently playing.

In order for Keilah to reach her full potential as a performer, I know it’s important for her to be planted in the right space. She was offered a place at an amazing Performing Arts School, however as we were going through the process, the government removed the VAT exemption on private schools, meaning bursaries are no longer being offered at this particular school.

This was a huge blow as I was relying on this option (or a scholarship) to pay her fees. I understand that private school is a privilege and one that many of us simply cannot afford. However I feel quite strongly that when it comes to the arts, there should not be a glass ceiling because of your financial background.

As a mum, I am trying to exhaust every possible avenue as a means to keeping Keilah’s dream alive. I would love to be able to secure her place there with no worries of having to remove her for lack of funding.

I know the theatre community and the arts in general are full of amazing people who believe in the next generation and want them to succeed. Please give what you can, even if it means simply sharing this appeal - it all helps!
