Save Garway Hall

Our lovely old 1930's "tin shack" village hall is threatened with demolition and can be saved for everyone as a heritage, community, arts and events space.
This iconic building in the Herefordshire countryside has hosted world class musicians (including Amy Wadge and Linda Lee-Lewis) who praised its unique atmosphere and wonderful acoustic. Dancers from the swing era onwards have sprung across its wooden floor. The Borderlines film festival named it as their favourite venue and it remains largely unspoilt.
The opportunity to acquire the hall for community benefit has inspired us and we have raised most of the money required, but we need a further £15,000 to secure it this spring.
IF WE FAIL TO BUY THE HALL ALL DONATIONS WILL BE RETURNED AUTOMATICALLY
We hope that with this appeal we will attract not just finance but also participants, so that donors will have concessions to host or attend events, workshops and courses, some of them vocational. For example - decorative plaster work, wood carving, lime washing and fresco painting, none of which are on college curriculums, will be available to learn, with subsidised places for under 18s and locals. There will also be recreational and messy activities, as well as Art therapy on offer. We also welcome investment from anyone who wishes to become a share holder, owning part of the site and free to sell your stake at a later date.
If we can save Garway hall for the future and each other it will not be demolished by housing developers for profit. The alternative is to consign this heritage building to landfill. With further funding it could have residential capacity available to people from far and wide, for arts or simply to experience the tranquillity of the site. A place of social, environmental and cultural enrichment.
