Please help me to not be a burden.

Hi, my name is Kerry and I have a rare breathing disorder and need oxygen 24/7. I’m looking to raise funds to purchase a portable oxygen concentrator and to see a private consultant/specialist if funds allow as my condition is rare. I have been in intensive care on a ventilator 6 times due to how serious my condition is. 

I now face an even worse situation as the home oxygen team is unable to treat me as I do not meet their criteria of COPD they do not have the skills to treat my condition I’m now left without being able to get any portable oxygen cylinders until a specialist picks up my referral I’m now completely housebound and can’t even go to a local shop to get essentials. 

The portable oxygen concentrator would mean I could go out to get my own shopping rather than depend on others and feel like a burden all the time. This has left me in an awful position and feel so let down by services to supply the life saving medication I need to live. This is not the first time I’ve been failed by NHS I contracted necrotising fasciitis a flesh eating bateria and was 2 hours away from losing my arm this has led to numerous operations and skin grafts and 2 years of daily dressing changes all from a cannula inserted when I went into a full respiratory arrest and I now have limited use and severe scaring on my left arm. I also have a thyroid disease and can’t even have the regular blood tests done to monitor my levels because I can’t get out to have these done. 

Being able to purchase a portable oxygen concentrator will give me back my freedom and improve my quality of life because I’m 46 years old and I live alone and spend all of my time indoors alone and completely isolated. The stress of spending all day every day alone is having a serious impact on not just my physical but my mental health too. I want to be able to go out and enjoy the outdoors and talk to people and take my dogs for a walk and be independent rather than living all day every day confined to my home. Simple things that we all take for granted. 

Please any amount can get me closer to my target if you can help me this would have such a positive impact on my physical and mental health. My target would mean I can purchase the concentrator and extra batteries and to pay for the services and the upkeep of the machine and maybe even see a private specialist.
