Patricia Michaels must get to Paris!! You may know Patricia from Season 11 of Project Runway (2012) where she was 1st runner up. The only Native American designer to appear in the show. Since then she has had many opportunities to expand on her passion and designs.
The struggles to create a name in the fashion industry are huge. Patricia is so involved with every aspect of her designs she even makes the actual fabrics! She hand paints others, hand sews others and comes up with unique designs inspired by her Taos Pueblo heritage and her deep connection to the elements of Earth and Universe. She is often seen with dye and paint on her hands from hours of artistic expression poured into a single garment.
She truly delivers Made in America by a first American, the Native Americans.
Eagle Feather hand painted scarf.
Without the huge financial backing like top name brand designers, it is near impossible to make your mark in the industry. Patricia seems to be carving out a niche with her unique fashion sense, designs and marketing ploys but has yet to attract the "perfect fit" backer for her style.
Patricia was recently invited to attend the WORLD FASHION WEEK® PARIS 2017/18 EXPO - Nov 17-19, 2017 at the Carousel du Louvre. This is awesome and a great honor because she will be the first Native American to represent the USA at the event. She is one of ten fashion designers who were chosen to represent the United States along side other designers from 4 other continents. This privilege comes with a big price tag.
Patricia Michaels Haute Couture gown
I was honored to wear and be photographed in some of her fabulous designs. Unbeknownst to me - I was her muse! How could I say No!! The photos were shot by Bill Curry, they are fabulous. The shoot was great and we are all very happy to be moving forward to produce a documentary on this upcoming experience.
If we reach our funding goals, I have decided to document the experience of "The Business of Fashion". The short film will show the process that Patricia goes through to attend an event like this from beginning to end. From begging for funds, time, people to creating the designs, booking travel and lodging, shipping, customs, and finally the designs on the runway. I hope to capture the chaotic mess that is creation at its finest.
Either way, there is a documentary in the works! Download links will provided accordingly.
She will have to arrive the 13th and depart the 20-21st. The costs that need to be covered for her to attend this event are enormous and are needed immediately for the following:
1 - Three Collections:20 piece Haute Couture, 20 piece Prêt-a-Porter, Ready to Wear & accessories collection. All consisting of patterning, materials, hand sewing, notions, hand tooling, photography for digital printing of material, artisans & seamstresses - @ 130,360.00 USD
2 - LookBook - photographic marketing material of each of the designs mentioned above, production cost to shoot and print includes, photographer, model and book production- @ 10,000.00USD

9- Go Fund Me fee @ 21,880.00 USD - this has been calculated in the asking amount so we have the funds we need when it is deducted by gofundme
Total donations needed: $273,500.00 USD
The entire town of Taos wants her to go to this event and everyone is scrambling to scrape the funds together. Every source will be needed and your donations are the biggest part of that!!
I would love to be able to applaud her as she walks down the runway at the end of her Haute Couture show with the finale piece and film her huge well deserved smile of acceptance for you all to see.
Please donate so that she can shine at this event and represent the USA as the first Native American designer to do so.
