Oxford Community Association Makeover Phase One
Donation protected
Oxford Community Association led by current president, Charlene Jones, has a desire for the Association building to provide the necessary needs to accommodate the wellness of the community and provide a venue for any event held to empower the people who want a beautiful environment in which to live. Today we are requesting the support of the community far and near to assist with the vision of having an association that works in the interest of what is needed to service the concerns of the families, churches and businesses. The importance of this makeover is to update the building with two handicap accessible restrooms, an updated heating and air conditioning system, a kitchen face-lift, and enlarged meeting space. We are addressing this makeover in phases.
1. Phase One - Building Façade – This phase has been completed. This phase included new windows, two new doors, painting, new handrail and landscaping.
2. Phase Two – Heating and Air Conditioning – This phase will be to update the heating and air conditioning system. The estimated cost of phase two is $20,000.
3. Phase Three – Bathrooms, Kitchen, Electric – This phase includes the
installation of both a men’s and women’s handicap accessible bathroom, enlarging and upgrading the kitchen and upgrading the electrical system.
4. Phase Four – Finishing the meeting space flooring, drywall, ceiling and painting. This phase will complete the makeover of the meeting room space.
The voices for the changes our community face each day have been an ongoing challenge. The makeover will allow the Association to utilize the building for job fairs, youth recognition, health fairs, craft and family events, job training, language education and a heating and cooling station in the winter and summer months. Whatever brings a community out for support promotes neighbors caring for neighbors. The doors will also be open for other neighborhood associations. This building is the only association building in the city of Fort Wayne, Indiana that is owned by the people in the community. The Oxford Community Association has been and continues to be a beacon of stability and hope for southeast Fort Wayne.
ANY DONATION WILL BE APPRECIATED!
