Omar and Rob's fundraiser for Kehillah
We are walking the 84 mile Hadrian's Wall footpath - unsupported and camping along the way, to raise money for the Jewish community we belong to, Kehillah North London - a liberal synagogue based in Stoke Newington, Hackney.
5 years ago, when deciding to get married and continue to build a Jewish household, we searched for a Jewish community that reflected who we are individually and as a household -- racially and ethnically diverse, LGBTQ-affirming, muliti-national, progressive -- and also challenged us to learn more and do more. We found such a community in Kehillah North London.
In the last few years we also have taken volunteer roles within the community. Robert has taken a leadership role as Chair and service leader. Omar co-leads on various projects, including the racial justice group, youth programming, and digital presence.
Kehillah North London has big goals for the next year, including:
-building an inclusive programme of in-person and online.
-strengthening relationships within the community.
-collaborating with other communities in the local area.
-expanding our adult education programme
-increasing our youth work.
-anti-racist work
-climate justice work
Such goals not only rely on volunteer time but also financial resources. Your contribution, big or small, would be gratefully received. All money raised will go directly to Kehillah North London.
Our longer term hope is that a stronger community will uplift our members, those around us, and help us work towards achieving a more just society that we all wish to see.
Thank you
