My Mother's Surgery
Donation protected
Dear Friend,
My name is Jose Luis Zelaya, a current Graduate
and future Ph.D
Student in Urban Education at Texas A&M University. Everything that I
am, I owe to my Mother's inspiration and sacrifices. Originally from
Honduras, my Mother
migrated to the United States escaping extreme domestic violence and
poverty; to give her son and daughter an education and better life. She
has had a long list of jobs which include: making
tamales, washing dishes, cleaning homes, offices, construction and
baby-sitting.
Seven years ago, while cleaning and babysitting, my
Mother fell from a second floor. She injured her knees,
teared an ACL's and Dislocated two back discs. My mother also suffers
from arthritis, high blood pressure, diabetes, vision loss, sleep anemia
and
obesity. On January 2013, my Mother was hospitalized for a week due to a
whole body cramp and heart problems. There,
the doctors urged my Mother to have Sleeve Gastrectomy Surgery.
This surgery will help my Mother lose weight to alleviate her suffering
and pain.
Surgery cost is $15,879 and a Heart Test that costs close to $2,000 for a total of $'
17,879. Since my Mother
lacks Health Insurance, we have to pay in full before the day of
surgery. Through public speaking, university loans, selling my car,
crocheting and side jobs, I have saved $10,000 for her surgery.
As a son, my biggest desire is to see my Mother healthy and happy. For
this reason, I am
asking for your moral support and financial help to raise $7,879
for my Mother's surgery.
