My Hearing Disabled Mother's Home Was Driven Into
Donation protected
To whom this may concern,
I am writing to you on behalf of my hearing-impaired mother, who recently experienced a traumatic event in her own home. On the morning of March 14 around 12:15 am, a runaway car crashed into her bedroom. She was awake later than usual, and not in bed at the moment. Thank God! She sustained no injuries, but was quite shaken up from the collision that shook all the photos off the wall.
The police were in pursuit of the vehicle, which led them into my mother's house. As a result, her bedroom and belongings were severely damaged, leaving her without a place to stay and without many of her possessions. Her insurance will likely cover the structural damage but her bed, chest drawer, family photos, important documents, dresser, television, and clothing were burned, or got smoke damage from a subsequent car fire.
My mother is a kind-hearted woman who has always been self-sufficient and independent. However, this unforeseen event has left her feeling helpless and in need of assistance. Unfortunately, she is not able to navigate the complexities of finding temporary housing or replacing her lost belongings due to her hearing impairment. My brothers and I are doing all we can from 700, and 1500 miles away, and navigating big changes in our own lives.
Despite her best efforts, she has been unable to find a solution on her own and is now in need of help. I am writing this letter in the hopes that a kind someone will step forward and offer her assistance during this difficult time.
The funds will go toward helping her get affordable temporary housing while repairs are being made to her home. She also needs assistance in replacing her lost belongings, including her bed, clothing, and other essentials after her home is repaired.
If there is anyone who can offer assistance or knows of resources that may be able to help, please do not hesitate to reach out. My mother has been a valuable member of her community, and we are grateful for any help that can be provided to her.
Thank you for your consideration, and we look forward to hearing from you soon.
Sincerely,
LeVar Thomas
