Support for the Parker Family

Dear Friends, Family, and Collegaues:
Loving dad and husband, 11-year dedicated UPENN Law School Associate Dean, and friend to many, Matthew S. Parker, is struggling with advanced brain/spinal cancer. Matt is now facing his third bout against this disease, since he came out of remission this past June. Matt and his family have been working with the Duke and UPENN medical teams in the fight for his recovery, trying to slow down and stop the disease's rapid progression.
Matt started a new chemotherapy protocol in July and then started radiation thereafter in September. Matt has been in hospitals and rehab centers since August and recently came home, whereby his close family is taking on complete 24/7 nursing care to support him with his condition.
Matt' s wife Michelle, Matt's brother and sister-in-law, David and Chloe, and the parents from both families: Evelyn, David, Ed and Elizabeth, have all been juggling the demands of helping Matt during this vital time; managing the Parker household; managing Matt and Michelle's children, Owen (age 8) and Gwen (age 6); navigating through the challenging insurance system; taking on a wealth of medical expenses; and trying to maintain ground with their various careers.
For those who have expressed interest in making a financial contribution, in an effort to alleviate some of the financial burden from the Parker family during this difficult time, a fund has been set up to support them. Funds raised will be used to help out with Matt’s needs and medical expenses, along with the cost of childcare, food and basic support.
You may check out Matt’s CaringBridge site for more information about his medical journey.
