Maskan — Emergency Shelter for Displaced Families in Lebanon

Maskan is an independent initiative founded by two architects, Paula Abou Harb and Etienne Coppé.
Our aim is simple: to support displaced people and refugees in Lebanon, without distinction of origin, ethnicity, or religion. We believe that all people deserve to be treated with dignity and equality, especially in moments of extreme vulnerability.

Since the outbreak of the war in Lebanon, we have been gathering funds and mobilizing volunteers to support displaced families in Biel (Beirut seafront).
People arriving there, from across Lebanon and beyond, are currently sleeping outdoors, crammed in cars and vans, or in very small, makeshift tents, with no access to basic amenities such as water, electricity, or sanitation.
Our work focuses on building and installing larger, taller and more protective shelter units. These shelters are designed to host entire families, offering enough space to accommodate, sleep, gather or cook. They provide not only protection from the elements, but a sense of stability, privacy, and dignity.

Priority is given to:
• families with children
• elderly individuals
• people with disabilities
• those currently sleeping outdoors without any alternative

To continue and expand this work, we rely on your support. Every donation goes directly toward materials and on-site construction.

You can also join us as a volunteer and help build shelters on the ground.
