Jocelyn erkrankte in 2012 an Brustkrebs und bittet aufgrund ihrer Erkrankung und der damit gemachten Erfahrungen um Deine Spende für die wissenschaftliche Forschung bei Cancer Research UK und für weitere Projekte inkl. eines Preises für die "Nairn Highland Games" und marine Forschung.
Jocelyn was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2012 and asks for your donation for scientific research at Cancer Research UK and for other projects including a prize for the "Nairn Highland Games" and marine research because of her illness and the experiences made with it.
Im ersten Moment brach damals eine Welt zusammen - denkt man doch bei Krebs sofort an das Sterben. Doch sie zeigte dem Krebs, was sie wollte: nämlich L E B E N! Von Anbeginn war Jocelyn eine Kämpfernatur und akzeptierte überhaupt nicht, dass dies ihr Todesurteil sein sollte... Die ersten Jahre konnte Jocelyn mit Operationen und mit maßgeschneiderten Therapien gut und ohne größere Einschränkungen leben. Erst mit fortschreitender Krankheit und mit einer Verschlechterung ab 2017 wurde es zunehmend beschwerlich und die Angst hielt Einzug, dass ihr Leben doch endlich sein könnte. Es war Anfang 2017 das erste Mal, dass von Seiten der behandelnden Ärztin die ernste Sorge geäußert wurde, dass sie das Weihnachtsfest nicht erleben können würde. Das kann einem schon den Boden unter den Füßen nehmen.... nicht aber für Jocelyn! Wieder erklärte sie sehr selbstbewusst: jetzt noch nicht! Am Ende halfen ihr individualisierte Krebstherapie, höhere Gewalt und ihre unbedingt positive, l e b e n s b e j a h e n d e Einstellung, dass ihr trotz der niederschmetternden Diagnosen noch einige wertvolle Jahre mit der Familie und Freunden geschenkt wurden.
Trotzdem ist und bleibt Krebs ein Killer und ist heute eine der häufigsten Todesursachen in der westlichen Welt. Im Vergleich zu anderen Erkrankungen ist es tatsächlich erstaunlich, wie wenig über molekulare Mechanismen der vielfältigen Krankheitsursachen und die individuellen Verläufe bei Krebserkrankungen bekannt ist. Nur wenige Therapien stehen zur Verfügung, um die Erkrankung ursächlich und kurativ zu behandeln. Je früher Krebserkrankungen erkannt werden, desto besser sind die Aussichten auf Heilung. Das war bei Jocelyn leider nicht der Fall - aber sie hat ihre Zeit auf der Erde genutzt. Sie hat ihre Zeit hier mit Liebe und schönen Erinnerungen gefüllt. Sie bittet Dich nun, die Krebs-Forschung mit einer Spende zu unterstützen - und sei sie noch so klein. Jocelyn hatte eine Vision: Sie möchte Ihre Asche im August 2021 in ihrer Heimat im Moray Firth verstreut haben. Und das ist der Zeitpunkt, an welchem wir die Spenden weiter leiten,
Ihre Familie wird den gesammelten Betrag für mindestens drei spezifische Projekte spenden.
1) ein Preis für die Nairn Highland Games - wir werden einen angemessenen Betrag (z. B. 5.000 GBP) durch 10 teilen und uns im Namen von Jocelyn vertraglich verpflichten, die Nairn Games mindestens 10 Jahre lang jährlich für eine ausgesuchte Disziplin zu unterstützen. Darüber informieren wir mit Fotos und Nachrichten im August.
2) Cancer Research UK in ihrem Namen, Ihre Familie wird einen Teil des dann gesammelten Betrages in ihrem Namen an Cancer Research UK spenden, sobald ihre Asche der Nordsee in der Nähe ihrer Heimatstadt Nairn in Schottland übergeben wurde. Bitte hilf' mit einer kleinen Spende für die Krebsforschung, dass in Zukunft aufgrund verbesserter Diagnose und der Entwicklung intelligenter Therapien immer weniger Menschen an Krebs erkranken und sterben müssen. Auch darüber informieren wir mit Fotos etc. im August.
3) Jocelyn liebte das Meer und alle maritimen Dinge. Daher soll ein weiterer Teil Deiner Spende die Meeresforschung unterstützen, um die Meerestiere und die Ozeane besser zu schützen. Vielleicht Projekte zur Unterstützung der Moray Firth Delfine oder der dort ansässigen Seeotter. Auch darüber werden wir Dich informieren.

At first, a world collapsed - when you think of cancer you immediately think of dying. But she showed the cancer what she wanted: namely B E I N G A L I V E! From the beginning, Jocelyn was a fighter by nature and did not accept at all that this should be her death sentence ... For the first few years Jocelyn could live well and without major restrictions with surgery and tailor-made therapies. Only as the disease progressed and worsened from 2017 onwards did it become increasingly difficult. A fear crept upon us that her life might be ending after all. At the beginning of 2017, it was the first time that the consulting doctor expressed serious concern that she would not be able to experience Christmas that year. That could make you feel quite shaky ... but not Jocelyn! Again, she declared very confidently: not yet! In the end, individualized cancer therapy, higher forces and her absolutely positive, lively attitude helped her, despite the devastating diagnoses, and she was given a few more valuable years with family and friends.
Even so, cancer is and will remain a killer and is one of the leading causes of death in the western world today. In comparison to other diseases, it is actually astonishing how little is known about the molecular mechanisms of the various causes of diseases and the individual progression of cancer. Only a few therapies are available to treat the disease causally and curatively. The earlier cancer is diagnosed, the better the prospect of a cure. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case with Jocelyn - but she used her time on earth. She filled her time here with love and fond memories. Hope is one of the most important things in life and our goal ist o give people across the world who have received a similar diagnosis hope and make a huge step towards fighting cancer successfully. Jocelyn is now asking you to support cancer research with a donation - no matter how small it is. Jocelyn had a vision: she would like to have her ashes scattered around her home country in the Moray Firth in August 2021. She was strongly connected to her home which is Nairn in Moray in Scotland and one of the important events each year are the "Nairn Highland Games" where family and friends gathered. There are so many fond memories and Jocelyn decided a long time ago that she wanted to support the "Games" with a prize.
Her family will donate the amount raised to at least three specific projects,
1) a prize for the Nairn Highland Games - we will split a suitable amount (let's day 5,000 GBP) by 10 and will commit to support the Nairn Games for at least 10 years annually. We will keep you informed with fotos and news to share all details of this project.
2) Cancer Research UK in her name after her ashes are returned to the North Sea near her home town of Nairn, Scotland. Please help with a small donation for cancer research, so that fewer and fewer people will develop cancer and die of cancer in the future due to improved diagnosis and because of the development of intelligent therapies. We will keep you up to date with fotos.
3) Jocelyn loved the sea and all marine things. Therefore, another part of your donation shall support marine research to better protect marine wildlife and the oceans. Probably Moray Firth dolphin or otter projects. This will be documented with fotos too.
