Raising Funds for Debut Short Film Based in NYC
Donation protected
My name is Fern, and I’m an interdisciplinary artist based in NYC. I’m working on my debut short film, Jewel Mine, which I’ve written and will be directing.
The story of Jewel Mine follows a hardened, lonely pimp during a New York winter who finds warmth and solace with the 4 girls they manage.
This short film is a meditation on the quiet spaces between intimacy and loneliness. In a city as cold, unforgiving, and transactional as this one, how do we fulfill our need for connection?
We're planning to shoot this independent 10–15 minute film over two days. The funds raised will go directly toward production costs—renting equipment, covering transportation, sourcing wardrobe, paying the actors and crew, feeding the team, working with an editor, etc. Being that we live in a world consumed by commerce and production I'd love to speak to something more honest and human through this story.
If you can’t donate, feel free to share with others. Any and all help would be deeply appreciated in bringing this vision to fruition!
