James & Libby Thomsen Scholarship fund

Peter Thomsen, a loving husband, father, friend, colleague, son and brother was suddenly and tragically taken from us in the early morning hours of October 9. Without warning Peter suffered a fatal cardiac event in his sleep. He was only 46. His beautiful young family is left to pick up the pieces and carry on without his love, strength, and guidance. James (7) and Libby (5) will now have to grow up without their amazing father and Molly has lost the love of her life. Their loss is immeasurable and profound.

Peter was so smart, reliable and thoughtful and planned for his family’s immediate needs but his absence leaves an enormous hole and many questions for the future. Molly’s biggest concern is to be able to continue to provide for James’ and Libby’s education.

We feel the best way to honor Peter and show our love for his beautiful family would be to set up a scholarship fund for the kids to ensure they can stay enrolled in their current school, St. Michael’s Elementary School. The funds may also be used for any immediate needs or college savings. Peter valued being able to provide a parochial education for his children and we’d love to honor that goal. Molly (and her kids) will be the sole beneficiary of this campaign to use at her discretion. 

Peter was well-educated himself and was lucky enough to attend his dream school, University of Notre Dame, on a full-ride ROTC scholarship. Later in life, he earned his MBA at University of Redlands while working at Abbott Laboratories then used those skills to advance his career at General Atomics. He also proudly and honorably served his country in the US Army’s 1st Calvary Division at Fort Hood. Peter dreamed of helping his children eventually achieve their academic goals but his time here has been cut too short.
