This fundraising is in fulfillment of a pledge I made at IPW 2022 to help fund travel for younger scholars at the 2024 IPW, calling on Pynchon scholars and fans of means (you know who you are!). All money donated here will go directly to funding several modest scholarships (about $4-700 each, we hope) for those giving papers at the 2024 International Pynchon Week conference in Belgrade, Serbia, in June 2024 who lack institutional support for conference travel and are coming the greatest distance -- PhD students, contingent faculty, and in general younger scholars. Donations help grow and sustain the IPW community and Pynchon scholarship!

IPW 2024 organizer Sergej Macura, in consultation with his committee, will this winter solicit brief applications for the scholarships from accepted speakers and select the deserving grantees. Please give generously -- as far as I'm aware, IPW has never charged a registration fee for general conference expenses, so those of us with the means and who have benefited from past IPWs can pay it forward here! Give to honor Pynchon or a favorite scholar; give in honor of our recently passed IPW colleagues Gilles and Michel. I hope this becomes a regular thing for IPWs as we look to support each new generation of work on our guy TRP.

(The IPW is not run by any separate entity with tax-exempt status, as you know, and we won't generate tax receipts for this modest fundraising drive, which I'm using GoFundMe for simply for organizational and collecting ease.
