In loving memory of Claire Shipley

Claire was born with tranpositions of the great arteries in her heart. Claire was rushed to Whiston hospital when she was first born if she made it there they would do their best to save her, they managed to do a procedure that kept her going until she had open heart surgery at 12 months old. The first procedure was called mustard procedure, that was successful but then Claire was in intensive care and unfortunately within 24hrs back in the operating theatre and given her last rights as chance of survival  was slim, Claire defeated the odds.

At the age of 3 Claire became type 1 diabetic, having to manage insulin injections and heart medication.

Claire tried to live a full and happy life and did so well under the circumstances. Claire became pregnant with her son Jack in her early 20s,  Claire lost Jack through still birth at 28 weeks and was told she wouldn't be able to carry a baby full term because of complications of her heart and diabetes. Years later Claire became pregnant with her precious miracle baby Maisie-rose, after a difficult pregnancy Claire gave birth to Maisie at 29 weeks, Maisie weighing just 2.4lb. Maisie was just as strong as her mum she fought and is now a healthy 10 year old beautiful strong little girl.
Over the years Claire did her very best to control her diabetes but unfortunately things started to take its toll, causeing eye problems, nerve damage, and eventually kidney failure. Claire was put onto dialysis 3 times a week at the Royal Liverpool, She always remained strong and positive and was the most amazing mummy Maisie could have ever wished for.

Sadly Claire was then told she needed a heart kidney and pancreas transplant which at a later date was refused as she would not have survived. Claire was then told that her heart condition was now terminal and there was nothing else that could be done. Even after this devastating news, she chose to remain positive and fight every step of the way to remain In Maisies life for as long as possible. All though seemingly Claire was doing so well the doctors was astounded at how well Claire was doing we all was. Unexpectedly Claire went to sleep on the 30th October and did not wake.

Claire was a loving, caring and devoted mum to Maisie, a loving sister of Laura and Suzanne, and a beautiful daughter to Rose. There will be an irreplaceable hole left in all their lives. The family has already endured great loss after losing their brother/son Stephen, they now have the pain of coping with losing Claire. No words can describe what this family have endured over recent years.

This page has been set up to help the family financially with funeral costs. If you can support the family with any contribution however small, it will be hugely appreciated. The money raised will help with the funeral, any additional money will be given to Maisie to help her in the future.

Thank you for showing your support to Claire's family at this heart breaking time and giving her the farewell she deserves x
