College Tuition for Argenis

Donation protected
Argenis Calderon is one of Camden's rising stars. He is the youngest coach in the North Camden Little League, a nonprofit that has been credited with revitalizing much of North Camden. Originally from East Camden, Argenis, known affectionately as "Henni" to friends, overcame a turbulent childhood. The Drug War affected his life as a young child when his father was sent to a federal prison for selling drugs, and his step-father was often abusive. Still, with the help of his mother—a small business owner in the city—Henni graduated from the LEAP Academy Charter School and began attending Rutgers-Camden in 2014, the first in his family to do so. The following year, he successfully passed his law enforcement exams and is in training to become a full time Camden Metro officer. Henni's incredible path has been covered by the Philadelphia Inquirer, WHYY, the Courier Post, and an upcoming documentary about the league, Pyne Poynt.

And then this summer, Rutgers-Camden delivered some bad news. Due to tuition increases, loan restructuring, and other bureaucratic details Henni would need to come up with $8,000 more than the previous semester if he wished to remain in school.

Please help keep Henni on his path to greatness and contribute to his tuition at Rutgers-Camden!

You can see Henni, the filmmakers of Pyne Poynt, as well as the many other success stories from the North Camden Little League at WHYY in Philadelphia this Monday, July 25th at 7pm following a special screening of the upcoming documentary, Pyne Poynt.
