Help Veteran & VA Nurse Michael Taylor Fight Unfair Pay Cuts

Our Goal: $35,000

Michael Taylor is a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), military veteran, and dedicated healthcare provider at the VA Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) in Salmon, Idaho. In this rural, medically-underserved area, Michael has been a lifeline for local veterans who rely on his care and expertise.
On March 26th, Michael received devastating news: his salary was being reduced by 24%, and his wages would be immediately garnished by 15% to recover an alleged overpayment of approximately $35,000.

This sudden 39% reduction in income has created an immediate financial crisis for Michael and his family. Without warning or proper justification, his ability to remain in Salmon and continue serving veterans is now at risk.

Michael has done nothing wrong. The VA typically offers special pay rates in hard-to-recruit rural areas like Salmon, but administrators have refused to conduct a proper salary survey because the area falls below their population threshold for such consideration.

This isn't just about Michael—it's about supporting a veteran who continues to serve other veterans, maintaining quality healthcare access in rural Idaho, standing against arbitrary pay cuts that harm dedicated medical professionals, and preserving care for veterans in an already underserved community.
Your contribution will provide Michael with critical financial support while he fights this unjust pay cut through proper channels. The funds will help cover basic living expenses during this sudden income reduction, legal support if needed, and resources to maintain his family's stability during this crisis.

This fundraiser is organized by Veterans for Idaho Voters, a coalition of military veterans dedicated to advocating for fair elections, citizen initiatives, civil politics, and sensible policies. We stand for the Constitution, the Rule of Law, and advocating for the rights and interests of veterans.

When we learned about Michael's situation, we knew we had to act. This is what we do—veterans taking care of veterans.

Michael has agreed to provide updates on his situation as developments occur. By donating, you'll receive these updates directly and see the impact of your support.

Even if you cannot donate, sharing this campaign with your networks makes a tremendous difference. The more people who hear Michael's story, the more support we can gather.

Thank you for standing with Michael Taylor and the veterans of rural Idaho.

UPDATE! The debt waiver was approved! This was the first step in fixing this injustice. VISN 20 HR has admitted their mistake and erased the debt. Mike has secured legal representation and the next step will be an appeal to the Merit System Protections Board to restore Mike's salary to the payscale he's been working his way up for the past 16 years.

Thanks so much for all your support!
