Two Hens Feed, Seeds & Bees

My name is Monique Cronk, I am the owner/operator of Two Hens, Feed Seeds & Bees. I am passionate about our community health, the health of our environment, and sustainable living. I support these passions, and my local community, with my work at Two Hens shop.

My dream came true when Two Hens opened in December 2017.

With my business partner and the support of my family, we were off and running.

Two Hens was open just over a year when my husband of 28 years, Paul, passed away unexpectedly. The loss was unfathomable.  My business partner kept the shop going, and supported my decision to take some months away to grieve.

Shortly after my return, she had to withdraw from the business due to personal reasons.

Then COVID hit.

I had to constantly think outside the box to keep the shop going through the pandemic, and I did! I was also able to start a food pantry drop off site at my shop and support the local community to grow their own food during the period of food shortages.

2021 was to be the year of the Hen!  After all, the shop and I had survived through what I thought to be the worst things life could throw my way.

However, I was recently informed that the building Two Hens started in, and continues to thrive in, is being sold.

I have always said that my shop is what I am meant to do. I really believe that. I love what I do for 70+ hours a week, it’s not work, it’s my passion.

It breaks my heart that once again, no matter how much I work, or believe in what I do, I cannot control all aspects of the future of my shop.

Please help me preserve Two Hens, Feed Seeds & Bees so I can continue to support my community, the environment, and the honeybee.

Here is what I do to serve my community through my shop:

Through my shop I encourage a more sustainable way of life, to help heal our environment through beekeeping, chicken keeping, and gardening.

I support our local county, and our nation, through teaching natural beekeeping, providing knowledge of the plight of the honeybee, and offering alternatives to chemical pesticides.

To encourage the well-being of our community I sell truly raw local honey, for a natural remedy to seasonal allergies along with its amazing healing properties. I also offer fresh, free-range eggs, laid by happy healthy hens, not hens forced to lay eggs in horrible conditions.

Two Hens offers healthy alternatives to the antibiotic/steroid pumped chickens, ducks and turkeys, by selling chicks, ducklings and poults for those that would prefer this health benefit.

Through Two Hens, I offer local backyard chicken owners the opportunity to buy hand-raised, mixed breed flocks, unlike any offered through a larger supply chain or elsewhere in our local area. I give the families all the information they need to successfully raise and maintain a flock, which was beneficial to the physical and mental health of local families during COVID. The families expressed that their children had a happy new focus due to the chickens. They felt like they had new “friends” to keep them company. This experience also taught them about chicken breeds and sustainable living.

Two Hens shop also provides organically grown vegetable starter plants, encourages gardeners to embrace native plants, and educates how to support our pollinators that are the key to our survival.
