Help Shagwüf get their van back on the road!

Hi, pals! We are Shagwüf, a Virginia based rock n roll band fighting fascism and celebrating queer joy through music. Our mission is to create a safe space at all of our shows. Our van is currently stranded at a mechanic shop in NC, after we broke down driving home from a festival in Chapel Hill. Repairs are gonna be a whopping 5K. We are asking for less, because folks have already started to donate to our Venmo. All our gear is in the van. We worked super hard to save up for tour and this snafu completely drained our band fund (we played a gazillion shows this past year to save up). It’s disheartening af since we just got this van a couple years ago. We are fundraising to get LOBO back up and running before summer/fall touring. Those of you that have been following us over the past 11 years, know that we have had some shit luck when it comes to these types of things…

We had to cancel our album release for “Dog Days Of Disco” back in 2020 due to the pandemic. We had to cancel months of touring and interviews following that release which really hurt our momentum + financial standing. Our last van, multiple amps, and much of our gear was destroyed in freak flooding that happened shortly after. Our album release for “Tres Animales” was evacuated after the fire alarm went off. Thankfully there was no actual fire!

All that being said, we still believe in rock n roll. We still believe in using our platform to fight oppression and speak up against social injustices. We also believe in the power of mutual aid and community. If you have the means to contribute, we would be so very grateful. Being an independent band is rewarding in so many ways, but it does not allow us the security of having funding when we’re stranded on the side of the road for 5 hours watching our beloved van get towed off into the sunset. Any donation, of ANY amount helps. Thank you so, so much.
