Help Rebuild Kathleen's Home & Her Community

Hello to our extended family and community,

I am organizing this fund for my mom, Kathleen, in Naples, Florida, after the recent devastating impact and affects of Hurricane Ian on her home, livelihood, future income, and that of her local community. After being away for months (in part to support my recent birth and postpartum life) Kathleen returned to the home she had just finished remodeling into a sanctuary she was humbly proud to return to. Her home, and attached art studio, flooded up to 5-6 feet, leaving her carefully curated possessions, heirlooms, and art in ruins. If you know my mom, you know how hugely significant these aspects of her life are to her, and her livelihood. You also know her keen ability to reimagine, rebuild and face adversity with resiliency and creativity. Immediately she and her partner Tim went to work stripping the house to throw out destroyed walls, and dry surfaces, and chase the mold that will set into every nook and cranny in a very short time. They have spent every day from dawn to dusk, depleted yet committed. They believe 75% of the house, as well as her income-producing tools and art, have been destroyed and will need rebuilding.

Kathleen has the skill, time, ability and opportunity to rebuild, and to help her local community rebuild. There is a small window of time to gather the resources to do this work before water damage and mold make it unsalvageable. Her friends & family continue to ask how to help. This is her answer. She will use all finances to purchase wood and tools to rebuild. Any extra money will go to supporting her local community, and supplementing her income (as the art she would sell this next season has all been lost).
