help laila treat her hyperhidrosis

My name is Laila and I have suffered from palmar and plantar hyperhydrosis my whole life.

 

Hyperhidrosis is abnormally excessive sweating that's not necessarily related to heat or exercise. This means it is a continuous daily struggle for me and it affects me in every possible aspect of my life. I predominantly suffer from this condition in my hands and feet and therefore you can imagine that most normal daily activities become much more difficult than necessary.

 

I have tried topical treatments and medications, I have tried an iontophoreis machine which is a form of electrotherapy. None of these have worked.

 

This condition has brought me masses of shame and embarrassment as I have tried to hide it as best I could throughout my entire life. I struggle to write, type, clean, read, grip and more. My hands drip if I do not have something to wipe them on and therefore I cannot leave my house without a bath towel in my bag. I have never been able to wear sandals or heels or any footwear that are not trainers as I constantly have to be in thick socks. I have to wear certain clothing and stay away from materials like knitted wool, nylon etc to not only prevent me sweating as much as I can but to also maintain a cooler body temperature in hopes that the sweating will ease although this very rarely happens.

 

I am starting university this October after dropping out the previous year due to chronic fatigue and this has meant I will be continuing my university journey mostly online. Typing and taking notes are some of my biggest struggles and therefore I am hoping that Botox injections, which are a proven help to hyperhidrosis sufferers, will help reduce my sweating so that I can manage my daily life easier. The NHS wait list is around 18 months and will not allow me to have Botox regularly enough for it to maintain the severity of my condition. This money will allow me to have a consultation as well as one round of Botox in my hands and feet which will benefit me massively as it will allow me to gauge how much I will need to keep on top of my condition. It is suspected that, due to the severity of my condition, it will not cure me entirely but could help cease the sweating by up to 80% which would completely change my life.

 

I really do not want to live like this any longer and I don’t want to have to experience the social embarrassment that I did during all of my younger educational years in university.
