Goloba Ibrahim Memorial Water Well Fund

I am writing on behalf of my dear friend Bugingo 'Desire' Moses, to update you on a tragic situation involving one of our beloved Desire Kids, 12-year-old Goloba Ibrahim.

On the afternoon of the 1st of February, 2023, on his way home from collecting water for the family, Goloba was reported missing. Despite great efforts to locate him, his whereabouts were still unknown. Bloodstained clothes belonging to the child were found, and we were soon thereafter informed by the village chairperson that a pride of lions had, that very day, been spotted just a few miles from the area after having killed some local livestock. It has now been officially verified that these same lions took our Goloba. We can only hope that it was fast and that he did not suffer. Goloba Ibrahim was an orphan, raised by an elderly grandmother who died in his arms. He was adopted lovingly by Bugingo and Nkinzi Grace and enfolded into the Desire Child Care Organization family. He is at peace now, and back in the loving arms of his parents, grandmother and ancestors.

I understand that this news is distressing, and I want to assure you that we are continuing to do everything in our power to support Bugingo and the family during this difficult time. As a father of child loss myself, I deeply understand what is going on in Bugingo's heart, and am walking beside him in his shock, mourning and grief journey. We were able to cover the costs of his funeral thanks to this fund. Thank you to those who contributed.

As Goloba was bearing water home at the time of his death, we are now raising funds to install a memorial borehole water well in his name on the land we plan to purchase in the near future for our Desire farm and residential school. With an onsite water source, the children will no longer have to risk their lives by walking the 3 miles to collect water. It will be a beautiful way to remember Goloba, and keep the children safe.

The cost for a borehole hand pump well will be between $5,500 to $ 6,750. Please help with any amount you can, and encourage others to do the same. Great good can come when friends, family, and co-workers give together. Taking up a collection for this campaign would help immensely.
