Give How You Died a future life!
Donation protected
Dark Skies Ensemble is planning a future life for 'How You Died' after its sold-out run at the Old Red Lion Theatre, where it received a 5-star review from Lost in Theatreland, and 4-star reviews from The Reviews Hub, London Pub Theatres, and Fringe Biscuit. The show will also be performed at the Camden Fringe on the 12th and 13th of August at Hen and Chickens Theatre. To continue its journey, we need your help!
The Show
‘A’ and ‘B’ are childhood friends catching up after ten years. ‘A’ was a successful lawyer and ‘B’ a famous children’s presenter. There’s only one thing getting in their way… ‘B’ has been dead for ten years.
In this near-future world, technology has advanced to the point where holograms can represent those who have passed away. ‘A’ can finally seek closure, but what begins as a night of nostalgia and reconciliation unearths discussions of power, lies, and secrets.
This debut play by Edith Keays explores grief, loss, and friendship amidst a near-future world of grief technology, performed by Lois Baglin and Tom Gould-Scott.
The Company
Dark Skies Ensemble is a collective of Bristol Old Vic Graduates passionate about showcasing new writing. Our company focuses on fringe theatre, integrating technology in exciting and sustainable ways. We are applying for funding for an R&D project to enhance the technical design of the performance, exploring how to replicate a hologram on stage.
The Fundraiser
Starting a new theatre company without funding is challenging in today's theatre landscape. However, our determination is strong. We rehearse in unconventional spaces, operate on minimal budgets, and use recycled materials. We rely on donations and future ticket sales to bring our artistic vision to life. Your contribution will significantly help us achieve our goal. We are specifically seeking funds for our R&D project in autumn, which will be a two-week exploration of creating a hologram on stage combined with a physical actor.
Through your donation, you will support an emerging theatre company and help us continue our journey post-London. You will enable us to create work that is technically innovative while posing important ethical questions about post-mortem rights in a digital landscape.
If you would like your donation to go towards something specific, please comment with your donation, and we will confirm this with you. For more information about us and the show, follow us on Instagram darkskiesensemble.
Thank you for your consideration and for supporting the arts. Donate today to support the future of new writing and emerging theatre artists.
