IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT - Under the guidance of the school we have had to postpone the event due to the RED weather warning in place for the weekend of the 6th December. We are rescheduling the event for the 7th Feburary 2025!!!
Hi I'm Ben and for the last few months, with the help of staff at West Buckland and the International Society team I have organised a 24 hour squash marathon to raise money for West Buckland's partner school Agoro Oyombe in Kenya. After visiting the school back in July, I learnt what it was like to be a student there and saw just how amazing the students were. But the school needs your help to allow it to improve in the following areas such as:
- Delivering the sustainable provision of food and water on site
- Improving the school's environment such as library, classrooms, kitchens and toilets
- Developing the digital skills of students and staff
- Supporting the development of teaching and learning to improve academic outcomes
- Providing essential classroom equipment and resources
- Maintaining the delivery of reusable sanitary pads for girls in the school
My plan is for a target of £1000 which will be transformational to the school. As a team, we will keep the squash ball moving in 2 courts, rotating the players on and off for 24hrs straight. This will definitely be a challenge and will require some determination but in the back of our minds will be the children and staff at Agoro Oyombe as we are doing this for them. We would be very grateful of any donations, so please consider donating to this fantastic cause.
The event will take place between the 7-8th February 2025, starting at 18:00 on the Friday.
If you have any further questions regarding the event don't hesitate to email me.
Regards,
Ben Willmott (Year 12 pupil at West Buckland)
