"If not me, who? And if not now, when?"
Mikhail Gorbachev
Established in October of 2013, FRIENDS of Laurel County Animal Shelter was founded after a few concerned locals realized a great need existed in their county. The euthanasia rate at the Laurel County Animal Shelter before October 2013 was 97%. Meaning that of the 2,000+ animals that found themselves in the shelter each year, sadly, 97% were not making it out. Never again to feel a scratch of the head, hear the loving voice of their human, bask with the sun on their fur, or experience the feel of grass under their paws.
Once FRIENDS of Laurel County Animal Shelter stepped in, that rate dropped to a low 3%. That equates to THOUSANDS of innocents lives saved per year. As the organization grows, it is our hope that that 3% will decrease to ZERO!
In order to continue their good works, FOLCAS is in desperate need of funding to help pay off the accrued vet bills that have steadily grown. Without the ability to send animals in need to the local vet's office, many rescues that save dogs from the shelter would be unable or unwilling to do so.
It is imperative that we are able to pay our current invoice with our vet so that we may continue to help more animals. Please, PLEASE consider these sweet souls that need your help desperately. The only way to keep saving lives is for everyone to take notice and take action.
If you can't adopt, foster. If you can't foster, donate. If you can't donate, volunteer.
