Help "Daredevil Grandma" Take to the Skies for Our Community on August 15th at East Leeds Airfield.

Known locally as "Daredevil Grandma," 82-year-old Valerie Appleton is once again proving that age is just a number.

After taking on incredible challenges over the years—including skydives and a previous wing walk for charity—Valerie is preparing to take to the skies once again - her biggest challenge yet!

She will be taking part in an aerobatic wing walk, including loops and barrel rolls!!!

This time, she's raising funds to help preserve the historic home of Ilkley Musical Theatre Society.

Our beautiful listed building is much more than a theatre rehearsal space. It is a valued community hub, providing a home for Ilkley Musical Theatre Society, That Sing Thing, Outside the Box -music group, Charlotte Willis Dance Academy and Joze School of Dance Adult Classes. Every week, people of all ages come through its doors to sing, dance, perform, learn, socialise, and build confidence.

Valerie is not just supporting the building from the sidelines—she is deeply involved in its life. She continues to take part in Ilkley Musical Theatre Society productions and is currently preparing for the newest show, “The Prince of Egypt ".

You can catch the production at King’s Hall, Ilkley, from 4th–7th November. Alongside performing, she also helps behind the scenes with set building, supporting productions in every way she can and helping bring each show to life.

To keep this wonderful building fit for the community, we need to carry out essential improvements, including:

- A much-needed new kitchen.

- Repainting the main hall.

- New cupboards and storage in the corridors.

- General repairs and maintenance to protect our much-loved listed building for future generations.

Valerie has always believed in giving back to her community. At 82 years old, she's taking on the incredible challenge of a wing walk so that this special building can continue to inspire and bring people together for many years to come.
