Esuubi Foundation Uganda land & accommodation

Donation protected
Esuubi which means ‘Hope’ in the Lusoga language is a registered NGO in the village of Kyabirwa, UGANDA and was founded by a local woman Happy at the age of 27

There are two amazing things about this, the first is she used her life savings to start Esuubi Foundation and the second is doing it as a female in a male dominated country and society

Our priority right now is to build new accomodation as our 16 kids and 3 house Mumma’s currently share 6 triple decker bunk beds (18 beds) crammed into 3 small bedrooms (See our profile picture!)

The current accomodation which we rent doesn’t have a ceiling or insulation and is extremely hot in the tropical summer especially for the kids using the top bunks within arm’s reach of the tin roof, then in winter the roof leaks….

In short, in the Western world the existing accommodation is a demolition job but to build a new house first need to purchase land to build on sooooooo

Stage 1: Buy land (80% complete Nov 2020)

We have purchased four separate adjoining pieces of land to make one single land holding of 0.75 acre’s (3,035m2) with the next step being to purchase one last piece of (adjoining) land of 0.31 acres (1,255m2) giving us a little over 1 acre allowing room for the kids house, an outside play area, an area for animals (at present we have 3 milking cows, 3 goats and 40 chickens) and finally space to grow our own crops

Stage 2: Build house (100% complete Nov 2020)

The ‘rear’ piece of land we purchased has a 2019 built 3-bedroom house which we will extend to include 2 large same sex dorms, an office and a store room – plans should be within our fundraiser updates or are available for anyone interested upon request

The modification / extension of the existing house will make the new house truly feel like a home

Stage 3: Furnish house (30% complete Nov 2020)

Once the build is finished, we would love to furnish it so it looks and feels like a home in addition to being as environmentally friendly and sustainable as possible, to do this we need too:

Purchase and install a 3kw solar power system
Install our existing 5000 litre rain water to house
Purchase & install a second 5000 litre rain water tank to house
Purchase & install a 2000 litre rain water tank to outdoor eating area
Fabricate a steel heavy duty clothesline and concrete into place
Fabricate an internal mobile clothesline out of timber or ½” PVC plumbing
Purchase 60 litre drinking water purifiers x2
Purchase bunk beds x10 (if we can’t convert existing 3 tier bunk beds into 2 tier bunk beds)
Purchase storage lockers for each kid and staff member x23
Purchase study desks and chairs x10
Purchase wall clocks x4
Purchase curtains x14
Purchase fans x4
Get a cat for both a pet and to keep any mice under control
Purchase paintings for living areas x3
Purchase individual photo frames & photos for each kid for hallway (including past kids) x23
Build exercise stations for Brian
Purchase pot plants for front veranda
Purchase and plant shrubs and trees for boundary of property
Fabricate and install a 15x5 metre green living wall on front side of house to offer a natural privacy screen and cooling
Purchase a fish tank (pump to be run by solar)
Purchase and install new sign at crossroad next to new house
Update sign at village

As Esuubi Foundation doesn’t receive any financial assistance from the government we rely 100% on donations and support from volunteers and good Samaritans plus occasional income from farming and necklace making etc with the majority of time it being a hand to mouth existence
