This holiday season, we’re asking for your support to help Soberanía : The Mexican Politics Podcast grow and strengthen its work in 2026.
Soberanía brings you news and analysis about Mexico from a grassroots, leftist perspective—helping English-language audiences better understand the country, its politics, and the people who shape it.
Hosted by veteran journalists Kurt Hackbarth and José Luis Granados Ceja, the show offers fresh, informed, on-the-ground reporting about Mexico and Latin America, free of the classism, racism, and exceptionalism that so often distort corporate-media coverage.
In 2025, we expanded our project with El Taller (The Workshop), a long-form interview series recorded in a working studio in downtown Mexico City. El Taller creates a space to dig deeper into Mexico’s ongoing political transformation—bringing you conversations with thinkers, writers, organizers, and movement participants themselves.
As the Trump administration lurches toward open conflict with Latin America and the region faces new forms of pressure and destabilization, independent, anti-imperialist journalism is more necessary than ever. We’re committed to providing it—but to keep growing, we need your help.
What Your Contribution Will Support
Your donation will go directly toward strengthening Soberanía’s reporting capacity:
Assistant Producer to produce, clip, and distribute video content so our reporting can reach a wider audience. Six months, part-time: $3,000 US.
Social-Media Manager to help manage operations, book interviews for El Taller, and handle correspondence: Six months, part-time: $2,200 US.
Portable Mini-Camera Kit for on-the-street interviews and field reporting: $500 US
Lavalier Microphone Set for situations where standard mics are too cumbersome: $300 US
