On March 17, 2023 at approximately 5:04 pm, Faribault police officers were dispatched to a missing person report in the area of Teepee Tonka Park. Family members advised that a 53-year old Faribault man and his dogs left a nearby residence 2 hours prior, and that he was overdue in his return. Family members became alarmed when one of the dogs returned home and was visibly wet.

Officers began searching the area of Tee Pee Tonka Park where family members had located the man’s second dog. Officers discovered evidence indicating the missing male may have fallen into the Straight River and summoned the Faribault Fire Department to assist in the search. Shortly after, officers and firefighters discovered the missing male submerged in the Straight River.

Life saving efforts were immediately initiated and the male was transported by North Memorial Ambulance to the Allina Health Faribault Medical Center. The male was subsequently airlifted to the Twin Cities in critical condition. The male’s current medical status is unknown at this time.
