Good day, my name is Andrew Struck, and I’m fundraising for three critical projects that will create and conserve public access to Lake Michigan! They all need your help to get them over the finish line, though. Each project is at a critical juncture, a make-or-break situation, with deadlines looming as soon as September 2022 (Expiration of the Offer to Purchase for Clay Bluffs Cedar Gorge Nature Preserve).

I’ve been fortunate to live most of my life on one of our Nation’s greatest natural resources, Lake Michigan, one of the amazing Great Lakes! Lake Michigan has always been a special place for me, my family, and friends. Lake Michigan is awe-inspiring and a place for recreation, rest, regeneration, and renewal! I’m raising funds by riding my road bike 1,000 miles around Lake Michigan (except Chicago) starting July 16th to support three critical projects that are conserving and providing public access to Lake Michigan in Ozaukee County, Wisconsin; namely, 1) Acquisition and conservation of the 132 acre Clay Bluffs Cedar Gorge Nature Preserve (County Park) on Lake Michigan (just north of Lion’s Den Gorge Nature Preserve (County Park) in Grafton, WI. 2) Construction of a unique, ecologically sensitive, low impact staircase to Lake Michigan at Virmond County Park and 3) Improvements to the Ozaukee Interurban Trail, a paved 30-mile multi-use trail that runs along Lake Michigan (and will serve as the starting point of my journey). Each of these meaningful projects have been a part of my life for over a decade and will ensure the protection of important natural resources, conservation of ecologically sensitive natural areas, and provide public access to these special areas and Lake Michigan! It is important to me that others get to enjoy and experience the awe of Lake Michigan as I have the majority of my life. These are all special places and projects, and many people, organizations, and agencies have dedicated a decade or more of effort, faced many seemingly insurmountable challenges, and raised significant resources to get them to the point they are now! They all need your help to get them over the finish line, though.
