We at Con Cottage Project CLG are asking for your support in creating a lasting tribute to one of Ireland’s most beloved writers and sports journalists — Con Houlihan. Yet, despite his national acclaim, his roots remained firmly in Castleisland — the place that shaped him, inspired him, and gave rise to the voice we all came to admire.

We are now seeking your help to develop and preserve Con Houlihan’s homestead in Castleisland, transforming it into a meaningful cultural landmark. This project is not only a tribute to Con’s extraordinary legacy, but also an investment in the future of Castleisland and of Kerry tourism. By creating a place where people can connect with Con’s life, stories, and spirit, we hope to inspire future generations and attract visitors who appreciate the richness of Irish literary and sporting heritage.

Phase 1 - acquired the property ( derelict site )

Phase 2 - developing the site so that Government Grants will be acquired.

Phase 3 - Restore homestead to its original state .
