Cheyenne's Journey Against Ewing’s Sarcoma

Hi Friends and Family,

I’m writing on behalf of my sister in law, Cheyenne Diaz, who was diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma in December 2024. Ewing’s Sarcoma is a very rare and aggressive form of cancer that affects only 200-250 people in the United States each year. This usually affects the bones, but in Cheyenne’s case, has developed in her soft tissues. Treatment will be very aggressive and will include multiple rounds of chemo, radiation, and surgery. Some phases will require her to be hospitalized for several days.

Because of the complexity of her diagnosis, Cheyenne is undergoing treatment at Memorial Health in Savannah, GA. Unfortunately, Memorial is out of network for Cheyenne’s insurance which will result in immense out of pocket costs for her. It is also estimated that she will be out of work for at least 6 months while undergoing treatment.

Savannah is nearly 3 hours away from Cheyenne’s home, where she lives with her two precious children, Rowan (6) and Aria (4). Cheyenne is a single mother with newly added responsibilities caring for her kids physically and financially. She will have to sacrifice much of her time with them, even while on breaks from treatment, due to the risks of being immunocompromised.

Cheyenne will begin treatment in just a few days (January 2025). Although she is anxious and afraid of what her future will hold, she maintains her positive spirit and her desire to fight for herself and her children.
