Recently, I was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer, an incurable condition, and have begun a challenging journey of chemotherapy and immunotherapy treatment projected over the next two years. I receive my treatments at the Williams Day Unit at The Princess Alexandra Hospital in Harlow.
Throughout this journey, one of the toughest things patients face is the hair loss caused by chemotherapy. For many, including myself, losing hair is an emotional and difficult side effect, impacting self-esteem and well-being during an already stressful time.
Why I’m Raising Funds
Our hospital currently has only one scalp cooling machine, which can help just two patients at a time to reduce chemotherapy-induced hair loss. However, the Williams Day Unit treats about 70-80 patients each day undergoing chemotherapy. This means many patients miss out on this opportunity to keep their hair.
I am raising money to buy an additional scalp cooling machine from Cold Cap (available at coldcap.com), a proven system that helps reduce hair loss in chemotherapy patients. Having more machines would mean:
More patients can preserve their hair during treatment.
Patients can sustain their confidence and dignity.
The overall quality of life during treatment improves.
How You Can Help
Your contribution to this fundraiser will help bring another scalp cooling machine to the unit, making a big difference for many patients who face the physical and emotional toll of chemotherapy.
Every donation counts, no matter the size. Together, we can support the patients at Princess Alexander Hospital to have a better treatment experience.
Thank you for your kindness and support
