Bring our park to life!

Hi, I'm Angus Bearn, treasurer for the Friends of Hornfair Park.

We want to make the park the best it can be for local people. It's already great - with a paddling pool, lido, BMX track, playground, tennis courts - but it's fair to say it's been a little neglected lately!

In Spring 2025, we faced losing the treasured flower beds in the formal gardens. This is such a key feature of the local community, enjoyed by everyone. We had to raise funds to buy some plants. A thousand thanks to the local Ginko Financial for helping out so generously, and also to Greenwich Council. We now we need volunteers to help water new plants during the summer while they establish. And what a dry spell we're having!

There's a great many other things happening! Why not join us? See our Facebook page for details and updates.

We need more money for all our projects: for wildflower seeds; for improvements to the picnic area; to revamp the derelict sandpit area; for boosting wildlife - and for our brilliant summer festival. Hornfair ParkFest will take place again this year after the success of 2024. Put the date in your diary for this free festival: 22 June 2025. There has been great support from local business. But we need more so we can attract more performers.

We also need money for tools such as litter pickers and rubble sacks which we use every month on our clear-ups. Every penny helps!

The bottom line is that the Friends of Hornfair Park have made a difference. Working with the police and the Council, crime is down in the Park; the picnic area has been improved; the Junior Park Run happens each Sunday; an ecology survey is underway... We've done lots of things to make the park feel less 'spooky'. Already, more people are enjoying it. That makes it safer and better for everyone. One day, we dream of a cafe!

That's why we're raising funds. To make this 'forgotten' Hornfair Park the best resource it can be for all the local residents. Thank you for your support. Even 50p buys a packet of seeds!

UPDATE OCTOBER 2025 Many of you have seen the sad news that our children's picnic bench was destroyed by an arsonist last week! We are hoping to be able to replace this bench as soon as funds allow.

Just as important... We note the coincidence between the removal of our fantastic warden, Gayle, and the beginning of crime in the park. This doesn't look right to us, so we will continue to discuss the situation.
