Booktown Mora is a community literacy program dedicated to promoting enjoyment and education through reading. Since its inception in 2003, Booktown Mora has been a successful, innovative program. By providing over 250,000 quality books to our 15 bookshelves and 26 Little Book Boxes, Booktown Mora has demonstrated its commitment to literacy and to building a community of readers. The bookshelves and Little Book Boxes are placed throughout the community of Mora, MN to provide residents with easy access to no-cost, quality reading materials.
Our mission is simple—our motive is pure. We believe in the power of books! We also believe we are making a difference and making Mora a better place!
It is very important to continue our community literacy program. Many of our readers are from low-income families. Reading is the best way for children to learn, perform better in school, and become successful adults.
Due to COVID-19, our annual Scholastic Book Sale at the Kanabec County Fair was canceled. The book sale had been our main source of funding for 16 years. We are starting a GoFundMe fundraiser to purchase books and to build and repair our bookshelves and Little Book Boxes. Your donation will be greatly appreciated! The $5,000 in donations will really help Booktown Mora continue to promote literacy in the Mora area!
