Help Big Jim End of Life Needs #cancer.

I'm Shaun. 

 

Recently a good friend of mine "Big Jim" James Croft was suffering severe abdominal pain. 

 

I dropped him off at Chorley A+E . From there he was transfered to Royal Preston Hospital. 

 

This is where his world fell apart. He was diagnosed with Cancer in 3 places in his body. Pancreas, Lungs and Intestine. 

 

He has been told its untreatable and was offered Hospice care for end of life.

 

Jim has been given 2 to 4 months to live.  Jim is just 56 Years old.

 

Jim's partner affectionately known as Pip and his children Amy, Naomi, Jack and JJ are understandably devastated as am I and so many of his friends.

 

The mortgage outstanding on their home is around £43,000 and the funeral costs are around £4000 with a memorial headstone.

Jim is only worried about 1 thing, he wants to have the peace of mind about his family being able to remain in their home.

 

Jim and Pip have been involved in animal rescue for many years and have helped rehome all sorts of creatures especially reptiles.

 

I'm starting this fundraiser because Jim is the sole mortgagee of the property and was the rock that supported his family.

 

They are not a wealthy family and now they could lose their home as well as their father and life partner.

 

Any money raised beyond what Jim and Pip need will be donated to cancer research in the UK. 

 

I have never been so numbed by the speed of someone's decline. 

 

Jim is called Big Jim because he is a gentle giant who loved life and worked hard for himself and his family doing House Clearances  like me and buying and selling. 

 

It paid the bills and kept the roof over their heads 

 

I have just been to see Jim and I was lost for words . He said "hello mate" and I said hiya pal , how are you .... just like you would .

 

Jim's reply was "its all over" 

 

He has accepted his fate with so much courage that I felt humbled and weak because I fear for him. I fear losing him . Yet he calmly accepts his fate.

His one worry that would allow him some peace is about the family home with outstanding mortgage. Its a huge amount of money to raise but I'm hopeful we can achieve this while Jim is still with us.

Anyone who know Jim will tell you he has a heart of gold and would go out of his way to help anyone. He always helped out people less fortunate than himself.
