Bethany Peterson Medical Costs

Bethany is a beautiful, caring, vivacious young woman. She is a talented artist and model. Bethany is deeply loved by our family and her friends. She's always there for a friend who needs help, and has spent the last 2 1/2 years living with her grandparents helping out after my mother suffered a severe stroke. She is a sweet young lady who loves her family. Recently Bethany had a horrible automobile accident leaving her with severe brain trauma, along with several broken bones, including a fractured skull. As of 1/26 she is still in Neuro ICU and has been since December 31st, 2018. She has finally awoken, but it will be a long road ahead to recovery. At this time we still do not know if full cognitive recovery is possible. What we do know is that costs are piling up already, and we expect the medical bills to be well over $250,000.  Bethany is our 26 year old daughter. We thank God every day that she is alive, and that she is making progress. No matter how old she is, she is our baby girl, and always will be. We love her more than life and can only keep praying that God will bring her back to us fully.  There are good days and bad. I find the tears flowing down my face everyday, both in sadness and in joy.  We put our faith in God and know He is in control, and though my heart is at peace, it still hurts.  Bethany has no insurance, and although we are trying for Medicaid and Social Security Disability, if received they really won't begin to cover the medical bills. At this time we are 4 weeks in the ICU, and just room & board costs alone are already at $95,000. From here we are still looking at many weeks out of ICU, onto a neuro recovery floor, then inpatient rehabilitation, followed by continued outpatient rehabilitation.  My husband and I live 4 hours away. Thankfully I am staying locally with family which costs me nothing, however it will be several months before I can return to work . My husband is staying at home to continue to work in order to pay our bills. We don't have much money and only one of us being able to work is putting a strain on finances. Though we will make it through, as we always do, being able to pay the added medical costs just isn't possible.  We are asking for your help. We appreciate your prayers, thoughts, and love, they mean so much to our family. We are also asking for monetary donations in any amount. If you can't afford to give, that's ok. We understand!
