Assist AWA Bri Bri Medicine Man to Save His Culture

Hola!

My name is Victoria and I live in Costa Rica. I am raising funds for my friend Abuelo Marcelino Figuera Lopez who is Awa and renowned Medicine Man of the Bri Bri tribe.

The Indigenous population of Costa Rica amounts to 3% of the people living here, and its traditions are being lost. The Bri Bri are a tribe living in the mountains and the youth are starting to lose their culture.

Marcelino's wish is to build a school and community centre where the youth can come to re-learn their culture, their medicines and connect back to nature and back to their traditions.

The funds will be used to build these structures and also to welcome tourists and 'outsiders' to learn this beautiful culture and the plant medicines such as Cacao and ceremony and the ways of the Bri Bri.

This is one of the most profound and grounding, yet simple cultures still exisiting today. A love and respect for nature, mother earth, the elements and great spirit, or Sibö. It would be a tragedy to lose this wisdom and medicinal knowledge so I ask you with all my heart to give to this worthy cause.
