My name is Cassie Legal, and I am Adam’s cousin. As most people now know, Adam has been diagnosed with acute leukemia. He has been admitted to the hospital since 7/20/26 and will have prolonged stays at AHN West Penn as the oncology team continues to determine the extent of his leukemia and develop his medical treatment plan. He had his bone marrow biopsy this week and starts his first round of chemotherapy today, 7/24/26. Adam, as most people know, is a stubborn person and is ready for this fight! Adam has always been the person to call if someone needed anything, with no questions asked. He is the “let me grab my truck keys and I’m on my way” type of person. He continuously shows up every day for his wife, daughter, parents, siblings, cousins, friends, and anybody else he is able to help, and now we are asking for the community to do the same.
That being said, we all know the future is always uncertain. No one holds a crystal ball. Adam is my older cousin, only by one year. No one at the age of 33 ever expects to get the news that they have leukemia, which causes him and his family to put their life on hold so he can get well. This includes him no longer being able to work in the oilfield industry, which is something he truly has loved. With him not being able to work and his amazing wife taking time off work to be with him while he receives his treatments, we are asking as a family that any donation is appreciated. Monetary donations will obviously be used to cover any hospital expenses, including gas, parking at West Penn for Courtney, bills, and taking care of their daughter. If anyone wants to reach out to me or other family members seeing if their grass needs mowed, leaves in the fall being done, or if they would like freezer meals for when Adam is able to come home, please feel free to do so. Any action to support Adam and try to alleviate stress is greatly appreciated beyond words. Courtney and Adam have a daughter that we all know and love named Daisy. Adam will not be allowed to be around Daisy while he is receiving chemotherapy. In addition to any donations anybody would love to make to help the Matthews family, we also ask for prayers for Daisy. Her mom and dad are her world, and at her age, she will not understand why she cannot see her dad other than through a FaceTime video for the time being.
I thank every person who wishes to support Adam, Courtney, and Daisy in any way. No action is too big or too small.
