JATV Raw

I created JATVRaw as a separate Facebook channel from JATV in May 2019 to focus on covering Amateur and Professional boxing across Scotland. Since then, the page has grown to achieve over 165,000 video views in less than 5 months, with an average of 30,000 organic views a month (and growing). I deliberately do not pay to promote videos so that the viewers are genuine fans of boxing and interested in our posts.

The idea behind JATVRaw is to concentrate on filming and promoting Amateur boxing in Scotland without charging the clubs. However, as the page grows; the time and cost grow with it. We have offered advertisers opportunities to sponsor videos and will continue to do so.

It's important to me to cover as much as possible for a few reasons; 1. Amateur boxers want to share their videos with family and friends and generate support for the sport, their careers and their clubs, 2. Amateur boxing in Scotland is largely run by volunteers who put their own time and money into training, developing and supporting athletes to achieve their boxing and fitness goals, 3. By interviewing athletes, it helps develop their communication skills for their potential careers and educates others about what Amateur boxing is like for, often young, athletes, coaches and their families.

Like boxing Coaches, Family members and Volunteers in the gym; hours spent at events and travelling or filming and editing, is done in our own time after our own life commitments and work. I have been to Nairn, Dundee and all over Glasgow, and soon to be covering Kilmarnock and Inverness, but want to do more.

I love JATVRaw and want it to be sustainable. I appreciate the support from everyone who shares our videos, or who have arranged for sponsors for the videos. I really do want the page to grow and cover more events.

Since May 2019, JATVRaw has spent;

* £2750 on Film equipment

* £280 on editing software

* £800+ on travel and accommodation

* £1030 on Sponsorship of Clubs and Boxers

I am seeking support from GoFundMe to help us do more. In the next year, I am hoping to train up to 2 assistants that will allow JATVRaw to cover more boxing events, interview more athletes and buy equipment.

I have set a target to raise £10,000 which will be used towards growing our team, developing film assistants to film and edit more events and buy extra recording and editing equipment. Sponsorship of the videos will also be sought, when possible, but we will never seek payment directly from the club - although we are limited to what we can do and where we can go.

If everyone who viewed our videos in the last 5 months paid 6p, I would have made my target for this year. I want to make clear that JATVRaw will continue regardless of whether the target is reached. This appeal is to allow us to do even more by covering more events around Scotland as we have had to turn down events due to clashing commitments and limited resources.
