There are far fewer FULL-Time/dedicated PC’s.

There are currently 30+ (known) stains of Covid-19, 8 of which are aggressive.
At this time we don’t know how many vaccines are necessary.

Why aren’t a LOT of these being done by the average Joe?
Well, FULL-Time, these can EAT older PC’s & laptops.
You’ll see on our page that some as simply NOT producing very well.
some need a lot of new parts.
And only 2 old servers are (really) churning WorkUnits.

A couple of
old rigs are overheating & shutting down so often,
so many times a day, that they’re being retired... elsewhere.
I will NEVER
shotgun a PC we can hand down to a kid.
But old parts, that aren’t even worth turning into kid projects...

When March... went wild, we were running in our Activist restaurant’s build-out phase.
& we have extra PC’s sitting idle.
& we’re farmers turned geeks.
ie:
I’m an olde farmer turned IT admin geek
(started w/ DOS 3.3 & Novell NetWare 3.10).
My farming thrifty repair background,
lets me find CPU/GPU(processor) upgrades
& tricks that are headaches & nightmares for... younger IT folk. (Whippersnappers!)
I’m training a new generation of tech geeks, so THIS is perfect!
So again,
We’re also spinning this off into a nonprofit,
to convert old PC’s,
put on Linux, to run faster than Windows
(& a LOT more stable, with less headaches)
replace compatible GPU's/ CPU’s w/ more processors per chip,
going from 1,2,4, per chip, to 6,8, to 16, 28 or 32.
Whatever the motherboard socket types & architecture will let us get away with, for a reasonable price-point.
That’s where the headaches come in, because...
they’d just prefer you bought a whole new system.
So they don’t make this easy.
That also means
have to change out cooling systems;
upgrading the right memory,
replace HD’s w/ SSD’s
And, everything has a starting point,
that needs help.
What happens when vaccines are figured out?
A. Great question!
B. Viruses do NOT stop evolving.
one we CAN live with is the common cold. evolves like crazy, but just a nuisance.
Some we had to stomp out. Polio. Small Pox. Measles.
But with easier International travel,
stomping new bugs out like the old days,
is No-where near as easy.
ALSO, that’s why out society will be slowly shifting to nanotechnology;
WW2 Manhattan project physicists Richard Feynman proposed near-atomic level machines to add to our immune systems: If nature can build it, why can’t we?
For a guy that Einstein liked to argue new ideas with,
merits some extra attention.
Esp. since he was on the Challenger Space Shuttle tragedy investigation team.
Now,
At that small of a scale, electricity jumps wire lines. a LOT.
It goes into clockmaker skills, modernized.
We’ll
be creating another nonprofit for that,
to help get kids in HS & MS into fields like nanotech.
But FIRST! Let’s get this off the ground.

Often parts replacements will do the job;
or gut & replace everything except the frame & power button(!)
