PARKIN MEMORIAL PARK NEEDS A PLAYGROUND FOR ITS 50TH ANNIVERSARY

The Parkin Memorial Park is located adjacent to Victor Elementary School in Victor CA. It was established in November of 1977, created by friends, family and the community to honor my brother Wally Parkin, his wife Joanne, his daughter Lisa and his son Bobby after the tragedy in 1973.

In November of 1973, my brother and his family were brutally murdered in their home, along with their babysitter, her father, her mother, her brother and her boyfriend. The two men made National News as they made their way from Denver to California murdering more than a dozen people along the way to cover up their planned robberies and feed their drug addictions.

To remember my brother, Parkin Memorial Park was created to represent how Wally and his family loved organizing gatherings of friends and family and bringing the best out of people in the community. Whether it was a river party, water skiing, camping or just going out to dinner, Wally and his family brought together the community in so many ways.

But SADLY, the Victor School’s playground equipment is no longer accessible to the public and is fenced off during the school day and weekends. And nothing would make Wally happier than to see a playground for all children to enjoy while their parents and relatives enjoy watching a ball game or picnicking and BBQing. I can’t think of a better way to honor my brother and his family to commemorate the 50th anniversary of their passing than to install a playground at Parkin Memorial Park.

All donations received in the name of the Parkin Memorial will go directly to the purchase of the playground and equipment, design and installation, all to be approved by the Lodi Unified School district who in their good graces helps maintain the park. And I personally (with the help of my generous friends) handle all replacements and repairs to the tables, bleachers, BBQs, and garbage cans.

The approximate estimate of cost relating to purchasing and installing the new playground equipment is $75,000.00. The Go Fund Me site will remain open until December 31, 2023. We appreciate your support.
