115 km walk to help abandoned animals

“Animals are not here for us to do as we please with. We are not their superiors, we are their equals. We are their family. Be kind to them.” Ricky Gervais

I know that many of you will, like me, find it heartbreaking that so many animals are used and abused by humans for their benefit, and then abandoned when they no longer serve their so-called 'purpose'.

Many Tears Rescue, takes in and rehomes ex-breeding dogs who are no longer required, those on "death row" in pounds, and those whose owners are no longer able to keep them.

They home more than 3,000 dogs a year, but of course, as a charity they need substantial ongoing financial support to do this.

I work at InXpress and one of our core values is to Give Back, so next month I am doing a 115 km walk over five consecutive days, from Sarria to Santiago, in aid of Many Tears Rescue.

Although I enjoy a brisk walk at the weekends with my family dog, I am by no means a long-distance walker, so this is going to be a challenge. But thinking about the animals who have been rescued by this charity, and the many more who will need their help in the future, will spur me on. So, if you can donate I would be so grateful.
